Cody Burcher recentlt returned home from the first round of the Australian Formula Ford Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park and we couldn’t be prouder of his progress.
As sponsors of this local young gun, PJL has been following his achievements for quite some time.
Cody’s passion for the sport started when he was just four years old.
“My first taste of motorsport was when my dad took me to a local remote-control car track to race. I learnt how and why a small remote-control car worked, and how a car goes fast around corners on dirt and tar surfaces. When I was seven years old my family brought me a 2000 Haase Go-Kart for Christmas and there was no turning back, I was hooked.”
Cody started racing club-level meetings before racing the larger interstate meetings. Over the next two years, he raced the older age group (Rookies) and in my second year, I was selected to drive for ART GP in the same category. He then raced junior national light and J-max Trophy class.
Now he reports to PJL his latest achievements at Eastern Creek.
“In Qualifying we came away with a third place which was a solid start. In Race One we made some big in roads on the car and I was able to make my way into 2nd on the opening laps, closing the gap on the leader significantly I just couldn't quite get there in the end coming home with a positive 2nd place. In races Two & Three I was able to come away with another pair of 2nd's which was although disappointing it was solid points haul to the weekend considering our imbalances and coming out of the round 2nd in the championship is also a very solid building platform in which we can work on for the next round at Wakefield Park in May!
“We worked extremely hard on the car to find the balance which came very close to, but I am very happy and proud with the way we evolved and sat down and worked at the car over the course weekend. We have a direction on what we need to improve on which we will be working very hard to sort out for the next round and go one step better!”
PJL are excited to watch his progress as Cody continues to strive for success and Cody has written to the company to show his gratitude.
“I can't thank you enough for all of your support,” he said. “It helps us massively and is what makes it possible for me to do what I do!”
All we can say is, just keep doing it, Cody!
